Foundations For Counseling Ministry School (FCM)

A call for those with a heart for Healing and Restoration

“You didn’t choose me, but I’ve chosen and commissioned you to go into the world to bear fruit. And your fruit will last” (John 15:16 TPT)

Overview

The Foundations for Counseling Ministry school is designed as a six-month training program with a lecture phase and outreach phase.

The school is meant for those who have a heart for the broken and have a passion to see people healed and restored. With a holistic approach focusing on body, soul and spirit, the FCM aims to grow people in maturity and help them to understand God’s responses to issues of trauma, addiction, family, communities etc.

FCM equips you with basic counseling skills and prepares you to minister to, and engage with, those who are hurting and in need of healing in a ministry setting.

The combination of personal growth and skills building will prepare you and help you discover God’s calling upon your life in the area of restoration.

Lecture Phase

The Lecture phase is a three-month classroom setting that utilizes lectures, discussions, workshops, skills classes, small group interactions, one-on-one’s, and personal study. The close community of students and staff provides an environment where the application of Biblical counselling skills can be worked out. Note that the FCM is a second level school, and therefore has more academic requirements (e.g. book reports, presentations etc.) than the DTS.

Outreach Phase

Phase two is the field assignment. This provides a practical experience where the knowledge, skills, and character qualities of a Biblical counselor learned in the lecture phase are put into practice in a mission field setting. Students will find enriching cross-cultural opportunities and challenging experiences of working on a team at one of the ministry locations around the world.
